STREAM Chloride dioxide - Disinfectant for drinking water, storage tanks..
TECHNICAL DATA SHEET / Instructions for Use
STREAM - DISINFECTANT FOR DRINKING WATER, WATER SUPPLY SYSTEMS, AND WATER STORAGE TANKS.
GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION
STREAM is a highly effective disinfectant for the disinfection of drinking water in open and closed systems, water storage tanks, in the form of a two-component system for the rapid and easy preparation of an activated chlorine dioxide STREAM agent at the point of use. The set contains component 1 (liquid component) and component 2 (solid component, powder), which is the activator. Components 1 and 2 are mixed together to form chlorine dioxide at a concentration of <0.3%.
POSSIBLE APPLICATIONS OF THE PRODUCT
Disinfection of:
- Drinking water for humans and animals
- Disinfection of drinking water and water supply systems.
- Disinfection of water for animal drinking and drinking systems.
- Disinfection of pipes, pipelines, containers, and water storage tanks.
- Elimination and prevention of biofilm formation in water supply and drinking systems.
- Water in pools, water storage tanks.
COMPOSITION
STREAM is a two-component system for the rapid and easy preparation of chlorine dioxide.
- Component 1 = Liquid
- Sodium chlorite (NaClO₂) <0.5%
- Component 2 = Powder
- Disodium peroxodisulfate <99%
- Pentapotassium bis(peroxymonosulfate) bis(sulfate) <1%
After activation (mixing components 1 + 2), a chlorine dioxide STREAM agent of <0.3% is formed. The stabilized chlorine dioxide STREAM agent is a yellow liquid with a chlorine-like odor.
PROPERTIES AND ADVANTAGES
Unlike chlorine (Cl₂), which causes mucous membrane irritation and is harmful to the environment, chlorine dioxide (ClO₂) offers the following advantages:
- The use of ClO₂ does not produce harmful by-products (trihalomethanes, chloramines), making it non-mutagenic and non-carcinogenic, unlike Cl₂.
- ClO₂ differs from elemental chlorine (Cl₂) in its chemical structure and solubility—it is 10 times more soluble in water (even in cold water) than chlorine.
- More stable in water, providing greater protection against potential future contamination.
- Improves the taste and smell of water, destroys sulfides, cyanides, phenols, suppresses algae, neutralizes iron and manganese ions, and removes slime.
- Removal of pathogenic microorganisms and organic substances is based on oxidation—2.5 times stronger oxidant than chlorine.
- The use of ClO₂ prevents resistance development in pathogenic microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, fungi).
- Very effective in removing and preventing biofilm formation.
- Gentle on materials, non-corrosive, making it suitable for aluminum and stainless steel (inox) reservoirs.
- Unlike Cl₂, its effectiveness is not dependent on pH levels—chlorine dioxide maintains consistent disinfection at all pH levels, whereas chlorine becomes less effective with sudden pH changes.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE (STREAM AGENT ACTIVATION)
Instructions for activating the product and preparing the chlorine dioxide STREAM agent:
- Add the solid powder component 2 / activator to the liquid component 1.
- Close the container and shake or mix well.
- After 2 hours, the chlorine dioxide STREAM agent is formed and ready for use.
Follow the appropriate usage and storage instructions:
- The activation process must be performed in a well-ventilated area.
- After activation, ventilate the area.
- In its original packaging, the activated chlorine dioxide STREAM agent can be easily stored.
- The non-activated STREAM components (1 and 2) remain stable for at least 2 years.
- The activated chlorine dioxide STREAM agent remains effective for 3 months after activation.

- The maximum allowed chlorine dioxide concentration in water at the time of addition is 0.3 mg/L.
Can the water be consumed immediately?
- Yes. After disinfection, the water can be consumed immediately.
- According to drinking water regulations, chlorine dioxide can remain in drinking water.
- SHOCK DISINFECTION WITH SHOCK DOSAGE OR FINAL DISINFECTION OF WATER SYSTEMS, ANIMAL DRINKING SYSTEMS, RESERVOIRS, ALGAE REMOVAL
- Dosage: 1L of activated ClO₂ STREAM agent per 1,000 L (1 m³) of water.
When to use it?
- Shock disinfection is performed for wells, closed pipelines, and new water supply installations.
- It is mandatory for new pipelines and plumbing systems.
- Recommended for algae growth, summer months (higher contamination risk), and increased microbial load.
Shock disinfection process:
- Add the STREAM agent to the water reservoir/well/closed pipeline and let it act for 12 hours.
- After this time, thoroughly rinse the reservoir/well/pipeline with clean water.
- The water can only be used for drinking after rinsing.
- Shock disinfection is complete when chlorine dioxide residue is detected in the system.
Water disinfected with shock dosage must not be consumed!
Algae removal:
- Dose into the system using a shock dose and let it act for 24 hours.
- Repeat the process until all algae are eliminated.
- Then rinse with clean water.
